Spa Chemicals and Their Purpose

Ever wondered what exactly what you’re putting in your spa and why? Well, here’s a quick rundown of some of the various spa chemicals you will find out there and what they can be commonly used for. This is a short list, but these chemicals should cover 95% of the problems you may occur when working to keep your water clean, sanitized and sparkling.

Chlorinating Granules – Specifically formulated for spas, this concentrated granular chlorine effectively sanitizes and disinfects hot water using chlorine.

Bromine Tablets – These tablets provide a concentrated source of active bromine that is ideal for hot tub sanitizing. These tablets dissolve slowly and evenly and fit in most spa feeders and floaters to provide continuous disinfection of your spa.

Renew & Reserve work together as a chlorine-free sanitizing system:

Renew – Non-Chlorine shock – Fast dissolving granular that rids spa water of residual soaps, deodorants, natural oils and organic materials that can build up in spa water. When it is added to the spa water, it reacts with the bromide and forms a bromine solution to destroy any microorganisms left behind by the bather.

Reserve – This specially formulated mix of bromide salts becomes a powerful bromine sanitizer when combined with leisure time renew . Not only is this two part system completely chlorine free, but there are no unpleasant side effects typically associated with other non chlorine sanitizing systems.

Alkalinity Increaser – Critical to PH control, this granular formula effectively raises alkalinity levels which might otherwise cause equipment corrosion.Liquid Spa Up – Gently increases PH with “no mix” liquid. Allows for a more comfortable control of the adjustment of PH.

Liquid Spa Down – Lowers critical PH levels easily with no mixing or mess.

Fast Gloss – A polish and cleaner made from reactive silicones that meets the performance requirements of today: Easy application and buffing without streaking or smearing.

Cover Care & Conditioner – Cleans, restores and protects spa covers from weathering, fading and discoloration. Specially formulated with a UV protectant.

Metal Gon – This concentrated formula prevents iron and other metals from building up in your spa. Use with each refill to quickly neutralize metals in your spa and prevent unsightly stains.

Foam Down – Concentrated foam suppressant designed for hot water applications.
